CHONG YEN, Una (nee Lee-Jackson) - It is with great sadness that Una's family announce her peaceful passing at her home, Thursday, December 8, 2011. We were all fortunate to be present: beloved husband for 60 years Herbert, children Jennifer, Paul, David and Matthew. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Nicholas, Sarah and Sarina. Una was born in Annotto Bay, Jamaica on November 25, 1931, the 10th child of 13 children. She was raised by her eldest sister Hilda Chin (Aunt Sis). Mom helped build the family business, Chong Yen's Pharmacy, Kingston, Jamaica, 1960-1975 and later Bridle Trail Pharmacy Unionville, Newmarket, 1983-2009.
She worked briefly at Simpson's children's shoe department when she immigrated to Canada and would treat her kids to Strawberry Tarts each week. A loving, caring and supportive wife and mother, Una was proud and feisty. She reveled in her children's accomplishments, she sacrificed, pushed and inspired us to be better, she was our conscience and moral backbone, she was the helm and the keel in all her children's lives. Mom was funny, warm and smart and folks who met and knew her, loved and respected her. She will live in the hearts of everyone who loved her, a wonderful partner and wife and a loving, caring Mom.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, (6150 Yonge St., at Goulding, south of Steeles). Dear Old Boys and Friends of St. George's College,

On Tuesday, October 11, 2011 St. George's College lost one of its treasured knights, when Old Boy Carl Chang passed away having suffered a heart attack.

My heart is broken at the loss of this dear friend who was generous of heart and humble in character; a champion of the College. . .a man for others.   Carl, the members of the College community will miss you.  I will miss you my friend.

We remember in our prayers Carl's wife Paula, his children, grandchildren and the rest of his family.  The St. George's College family mourns with you as we struggle to come to terms with his sudden departure from us.  Thank you for sharing him with us for a short time.

We thank God for Carl's life.  His goodness touched the lives of many.  As we are promised in Romans 2:10. "but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good", may his dear soul rest in peace.
