This Purity bread cart picture was taken about 1960 at the bottom of King Street by the water fountain across from Victoria Craft market. This shows how bread used to be delivered. Purity bakery is 50 years this year.

The Chinese Cemetry I would say was taken about 70 to 80 years ago.
The little girl with the chair is either Elsie Young or her sister Enid Chen See.
Recognize this young good looking fellow?
Still good looking minus the hair.

No these ladies are not GAY but happily married with lots of kids.
The years quickly roll along, one must pay tribute to the past. With no intention of embarassing anyone included a photograph which I feel speaks volumes of those early years.
Mme. Evelyn Andrade was the most photographed contestant in the Miss World Beauty Pagent.
Representing Jamaica then, most Jamaicans felt that she was the contestant to have worn the Miss World crown. We were never able to see this contest because it was run in Great Britain. Of course at this time, we had no television. I think television came a few years later but even in this early 21st century, I don't think that I have even been able to see a Miss World beauty pageant in this region of Canada.
In this photograph she is lending her expertise to the contestants of the Miss Chinese Jamaica (no need to mention the year) - Yvonne Jue
These two young ladies seem to be contemplating a dip in the crystal-clear waters off Lime Cay where we assume this 50's photo was taken.Half a century later these two friends are still in touch with each other even though the Atlantic Ocean separates them, one in England, the other in Canada. - Philip Young
Upstairs Diamond Mineral Water Factory- I believe this was Sonia's sweet sixteen party which I am guesing was in 1955(?)
I wasn’t an Alpha grad that year (or of any other year, for that matter!) … the memories were for a different reason. It was the time I got my first real good camera, a Rolleiflex, and the Alpha graduation ceremony was my chance to try out my new “toy.” Here’s a picture I took that evening...Winston Wong
Left to Right: Lily (Chin), Lena (Wong), Meryl (Moo Young), and Patsy (Chung.)
Just hanging around the steps waiting for the girls to show up.
Here are some lassies modeling. This photo was shown at an Alpha old girls CLASS re-union in Miami. It seemed to be a modeling session at the CAC at Derrymore Road --- the background looks like part of the clubhouse. Can you guess or do you know the beautiful Models? Is so share this with us and the viewers. We know some of the ladies. Hint- one was a Miss CAC, one is the spouse of one of our very lucky and undeserving [if yu ever see ‘im- this is a clue in itself] editors of our CEEJAY website
Life in sunny Jamaica in the nifty fifties was great the look on these youthful faces at a north coast resort says it all. Care-free, stress-free and no worries about cholesterol or terrorism! Unfortunately, two members of this group, Dalton (with camera and standing besides his brother, Philip) and Marlene, in front, 4th from left, have since passed away and even today we mourn the losses. It is photos like these that will preserve our memories of those wonderful times of our lives, and we take much pleasure in sharing them with you, our faithful readers. - Philip Young
Chinese Public on North Street. You can see Keith Lyn (yes later of Byron Lee's band) and Noel Lyn and others. I'd guess maybe 1955 or there about.
